Kara Mohaseb: ETABS plug-in for structural checking and design

Kara Mohaseb (Persian: کارامحاسب) is an add-in for CSI ETABS made by the Kara Mohaseb software group in Tehran, Iran, since 2012. It checks and helps design building structures to the Iranian codes: Standard 2800 (seismic design, editions 4 and 5) and the Iranian National Building Regulations (Mabhas 6 loads, Mabhas 9 concrete, Mabhas 10 steel), with ACI 318 and AISC 360/341 where the checks refer to them. It reads the analysed ETABS model through the ETABS API, runs the checks inside ETABS and writes the results as editable Microsoft Word reports.

  • ETABS 9 to 9.7.4: Kara Mohaseb 9.

How it works

  • Project data (client, consultant, site, lateral systems, soil type and seismic parameters) is entered once and stored with the ETABS model, so every window and report reuses it.
  • Each check reads the results ETABS computed, compares them with the code limits and marks every row as acceptable or not.
  • Each check writes a Word report; the calculation booklet merges the project data and the chosen reports, in the order the engineer sets, into one document.
